What is SIR (Special Intensive Revision)?
The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) is a large-scale, detailed verification of voter lists conducted by the Election Commission of India (ECI).
It is far more thorough than routine annual revisions.
Objectives of SIR
- Add every eligible 18+ citizen
- Remove ineligible, duplicate, or deceased voter entries
- Fix errors in name, age, gender, or address
- Ensure accurate and complete electoral rolls before major elections
SIR is conducted under Article 324 of the Constitution and provisions of the Representation of the People Act.

Understanding Different Voter Lists
1️⃣ General Election List
Prepared before major elections such as:
